For many young youth in the Black culture navigating mispronounced and shortened identities, learning when to stay quiet instead of speaking up.
Many children especially children of color experience early messages that discourage self-expression or minimize cultural identity.
This is why I created My Brown My Confidence a culturally affirming children’s book that supports identity, respect, confidence, and most importantly representation in the form of literacy.

Hi readers!
As a proud Black woman passionate mother of two who believes confidence should be taught early and often especially to our young black youth. Rooted in love for my culture and community. My work is inspired by everyday moments of parenting, storytelling, and affirming brown beauty in both color and design. The goal is about showing our children of color, their skin, their names, their voices, and their presence matter. I write to uplift, to protect their sense of self, and to remind them that confidence is not something they have to earn, it already lives within them.
The goal is to take away the negative cloud for our youth not having to grow up afraid of what the world may say about them. The purpose is to replace that with helping building their internal foundation before the outside world gets the opportunity to define their value for them. This is why My Brown My Confidence was created. The message just doesn’t stop here, there is longevity within this experience.
